Cover Crazy (12) - Witch Song


Cover Crazy is a weekly meme hosted by The Book Worms  on Mondays.  Its a brand new meme where the idea is to showcase a  beautiful book cover each week.  This week I'm crazy about.....

I seem to be on a real paranormal kick lately, don't I?  This cover is so darn gorgeous it makes me want to find this book and devour it right now!  Unfortunately, this book Witch Song by Amber Argyle isn't slated to be released until September 2011.  There are so many endless reasons to why I am drawn to this beautiful cover.  I love it because its an illustration and not a photograph.  The light and the way it radiates off the young girl is breath taking.  I am totally memorized by her dauntingly innocent green eyes, but why are the whites of her eyes green tinged? With her perfect face and smooth skin, she seems the epitome of purity.  What's really peculiar though is the rings light coming off in circles around the center of her chest.  Is that some sort of magical piece of jewelry?  Two last items of importance are the brambles of branches and holly berries surrounding her.  Holly berries symbolize the life giving blood of the mother goddess, but at the same time are extremely poisonous!

  1. I'm actually not so crazy about this one. I think she looks doll-like, which in my world equals slightly creepy.

  2. While she's pretty, it doesn't do anything for me. It doesn't really suck me in.

    Great pick though. I hadn't seen this one before :)

  5. great choice! its just so pretty. her big eyes makes me think she's a fairy or something. very nice it makes me want to read it as well.

  6. @Logan - Well, that's ok, I do see where your coming from. I do think she's slightly creepy, but for me that's the lure. :-)

    @Juju - I guess I'm just a sucker for pretty eyes, something about this girl leaves me with a strong desire to want to know more about her. She's mysterious to me...

    @Kayla - Agreed, the eyes are certainly what got to me...

    @Christy - Yes, its kinda tough to find much info but from what I did manage to dig up, its sounds really good.

    @Melissa - Its definitely a cover which makes my desire to read the book strong.

  10. That cover is GORGEOUS! I love hand-illustrations like that. It reminds me of Lisa Mantchev's Théâtre Illuminata books. Those covers are so, so gorgeous. I've only read the first book so far and wasn't overly fond of it, but I want to re-read it someday and see if I change my mind so I can read the other books because they're GORGEOUS. I love hand illustrations. I'll definitely be peeping at Witch Song. Thanks for showing it to us!
